“Hope is the waking man's dream.” (Aristotle)

“Hope is the waking man's dream.” (Aristotle) Let's not be afraid of getting old; Let's have that, fear of stopping being ourselves to please others. At this stage of our life, we choose our peace above anything else, and we have to invent a difficulty for every solution, we know the art of converting the easy into the difficult through the useless! And we know, or are aware of it, that “as they accumulate power, bureaucracies become immune to their own mistakes. Instead of changing their story to fit reality, they are able to change reality to fit their stories.” (Yuval Noah Harari) We must never forget that by preventing abuse of power, the separation and balance of powers guarantees individual freedom and the protection of citizens' rights. The separation of powers is fundamental to democracy and the protection of individual freedoms. “The corruption of rulers almost always begins with the corruption of their principles.” (Baron de Montesquieu) And whoever still doesn't understand this, doesn't understand anything. Unlike Montesquieu, we do not believe in the control of power by power itself, in the self-regulation that the so-called “gurus” of neoliberalism defend, with the results that are known and in the exponential increase in inequalities. We are aware that no one won in Sunday's elections! Much less those who think they have won. I respect our democracy and election results. I will always strive to understand the reasons and the world of others, but... I will never respect the ideas or protagonists of those who want to “return to the regime before April 25, 1974” and much less those who support them. As someone once said, “Life is not measured by the obstacles we encounter, but by the courage with which we face them.” Some political commentators say that we have “a new political country”, full of old things to resolve. If we don't want to wake up one day in a country that denies our history of freedom and democracy, the path starts now. Because let us remember what someone said: “only those who stop fighting are defeated.” I'm nothing special, I'm sure. I am an ordinary man, with ordinary thoughts and I have led an ordinary life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. I have never been a communist, I have never even been close to any of its factions, I am rather an individualist who understands and has always understood the need for cooperation with others and from others in order to be free. In fact, when someone calls me a ‘leftist’, a ‘commie’, etc. is usually acknowledging that I am against xenophobia, misogyny, racism, homophobia and abuses of power — and my Junior and I think that's just adorable! We know better than anyone, “As much as we may appear physically intact, the truth is that the whole boys who left were not the crippled men who returned.” As Chico Buarque said: "Certain stories never stop happening to us, until the end of our lives.”
