We expected them to explain why this happens suddenly and at the same time in several places in the country: last week there were doctors and not this week? Did they say goodbye? Did you have a long weekend? And only in obstetrics? And especially in Lisbon? I confess that this reminds us of old episodes, such as the births in ambulances, which ended as soon as Minister Correia de Campos left. Too many coincidences, always (or almost always) the doctors, the Ordem dos Médicos, the trade unionist Roque, with their agendas and with the private lurking. Without it, it would be impossible to have the high level of quality of medicine that is practiced in our country. There are six years of teaching at a medical school, one year of general training and four or six years of specialized training within the scope of the medical internship, depending on the specialty in question. A doctor fulfills a demanding stage of 11 to 15 years to acquire differentiated autonomy as a specialist doctor. The question seems simple to us, how much does it cost the public purse (from our taxes) to train a specialist doctor? What is the reason that a doctor does not have or should not reimburse, for a period of time, for example 3 years, these costs at the end of specialist training in the public health service? “Apesar de tudo eu ainda acredito na bondade humana” (Anne Frank) Numa época em que o novel jornalismo-relâmpago, quase sempre superficial, impreciso, especulativo e até manipulado (quando não manipulador) ocupa grande parte do espaço e do tempo mediáticos, o trabalho (pseudo-jornalistico) nos últimos dias sobre o SNS é um exemplo do jornalismo que não investiga com seriedade e perseverança – e que faz bem mal à alma do jornalismo…“A ética deve acompanhar sempre o jornalismo, como o zumbido acompanha o besouro.” (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) Esperávamos muito mais da imprensa escrita, falada e em especial televisionada no que diz respeito às reportagens sobre o Serviço Nacional de Saúde e em especial das urgências de obstetrícia. Esperávamos que explicassem porque é que isso acontece de repente e ao mesmo tempo em vários sítios do País: a semana passada havia médicos e esta não? Será que se despediram? Fizeram um fim de semana longo? E só em obstetrícia? E especialmente em Lisboa? Confesso que isto nos faz recordar episódios antigos, como os nascimentos nas ambulâncias, que terminaram logo que o ministro Correia de Campos saiu. Demasiadas coincidências, sempre (ou quase sempre) os médicos, a Ordem dos Médicos, o sindicalista Roque , com as suas agendas e com o privado a espreitar. Todos os que se dedicam à profissão de jornalista deviam saber que “ a missão do jornalista é informar com isenção e rigor, não é reproduzir acriticamente as teses de terceiros, por muito louváveis que elas sejam.” A investigação jornalística não depende das investigações da ordem dos Médicos ou do sindicalista Roque e o jornalista independente não é um acólito dessa Ordem Profissional, sindical ou de outras entidades. A informação que nos entra pela nossa casa diariamente, pelas omissões que comporta, não cumpre a missão de informar com isenção, rigor e credibilidade.” “Eu não quero acabar com o trabalho de ninguém, jornalistas tem que escrever algo e se eles não tem nada real para escrever eles inventam.”(Elvis Presley) A formação de um médico especialista é longa, exigente e com múltiplas avaliações. Sem ela, seria impossível termos o elevado nível de qualidade da medicina que é praticada no nosso país. São seis anos de ensino numa escola médica, um ano de formação geral e quatro ou seis anos de formação especializada no âmbito do internato médico, dependendo da especialidade em causa. Um médico cumpre uma etapa exigente de 11 a 15 anos para adquirir autonomia diferenciada como médico especialista. A questão parece-nos simples, quanto custa ao erário publico (dos nossos impostos) a formação de um médico especialista? Qual a razão que finda a formação de especialista um médico não tem ou deve ressarcir, durante um espaço de tempo, por exemplo 3 anos, esses custos, no serviço público de saúde? Como cidadão que se sente como muita honra em ser português e ter uma Serviço Nacional de Saúde como o nosso, aqui deixo esta “lição” para a Dra Marta Themido (ministra da saúde) de Winston Churchill “A lição é a seguinte: nunca desista, nunca, nunca, nunca. Em nada. Grande ou pequeno, importante ou não. Nunca desista. Nunca se renda à força, nunca se renda ao poder aparentemente esmagador do inimigo. ”
