“Better to add life to the days than days to life.” (Rita Levi-Montalcini)

“Better to add life to the days than days to life.” (Rita Levi-Montalcini) We all know how difficult it is today to know how to distinguish a fact from an opinion. We have, therefore, that in reality there is a part of us that forms its opinion from the news that we read, but we also have the clear perception that most of us do so based on the opinion of the commentators, understood as facts. One of the consequences in these times in which we live is that we begin to doubt or even bore the possibility of opinions being falsified by dubious news, since when the journalist reports badly, it is useless to expect the commentator, based on what he has read and listened, comment well. There is a strong relationship, when it is said that the solution to the problems lies in looking within ourselves; he says that people have all the answers to solve their problems and find meaning in their lives. “Life is what happens while making plans for the future. Enjoy every moment of your life, and have great reasons to smile and show gratitude for living. ”(John Lennon) In this sense, it is never too much to repeat that each one of us, as citizens who strive for the exercise of citizenship, not only in each one, but in all the news that we “relay”, we are always and only the faithful custodians of the trust that others place their trust in us, and that is why we should never betray that trust when trying and wanting to inform, having the perception of what advertising is to convince, making it a vehicle for other interests that surpass us, but never allowing this way of controlling people's lives , focused on themselves, not worrying about what's going on around them. This was not, is not, the “best we can do”, nor the best we can be. Do we want to be past or present? We are better than the past. We are the present. No one knows the whole story, because it resides in each person's life. Our past explains to us who we are, but what we decide to do today is what defines who we want to be. After all, we need to make a choice about the society in which we want to live: in a society in which people feel increasingly disconnected from each other, increasingly atomized and lonely, or in a society in which we reconnect and return to be together? If we choose the second, we have to recognize that there are commitments that we will have to make: between our immediate, short-term interest and the collective interest; between freedom and fraternity; between convenience and community. The choice is ours. The future is, after all, in our hands. “What surprises me most about humanity, are the" men ". Because they lose their health to save money. Then they lose money to regain their health. And because they think anxiously about the future, they forget about the present in such a way that they end up living neither the present nor the future. And they live as if they would never die ... ... And they die as if they had never lived. ”(DALAI LAMA)
