Living is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist. ”(Oscar Wilde)
This time, which is not our time, is making us live our "life" in another way, it makes us live it to the limits of the possible. There are all those who have to work, there are all who have to sleep, there are all who have to eat, there are those who have to play, and even travel and visit so many things, all in the same space (in time and physical). That is why, we have to admit that this pandemic, may also be remembered, as an opportunity for many to know, the “most forgotten part” of their own life, and to start “talking” about quality of life, in an opportunity remote work space and “breathing space”. As Max Weber said: "History teaches us that man would not have achieved the possible if, repeatedly, he had not tried the impossible."
We can never stop dreaming, but always respecting above all our identity and our roots, we all have roots that keep us standing. We all need to know and know what our roots are, because that alone gives us the feeling of living our life: there is any place in the world where we were born, where we learn to speak a language, where we discover how our ancestors overcame their problems. There will be a certain moment in our life, when we become responsible for that place! Sometimes we feel that we needed to have wings, because we wanted to show the endless horizons of the imagination, which lead us to our dreams, and lead us to distant places. These are the wings that allow us to know the roots of our fellow men, and learn from them. ” When the roots are deep there is no reason to fear the wind. ” (Chinese proverb)
Although the first impression is what remains, we must all realize that the essential is almost always invisible to the eye. Because how we feel inside is reflected externally, even if we are unable to have that perception, we cannot pretend that after a certain moment, that we do not know when, and we doubt that anyone knows, everything will be as it was before! I recall a Chinese proverb, demonstrating how ancient wisdom can inspire change. "No matter how many steps were taken back, the important thing is how many steps now we take forward".
For better or for worse it is my conviction that we have to turn this page of the relative loss of our individual and collective freedom that this virus (covid19) implied. It becomes evident that, perhaps this is not the only subject or design of society, as we must know and accept that “there is more life than the virus”, because we feel that we all have the right and as citizens to be free to pursue our life projects, our ambitions and aspirations, when uncertainty is particularly high about future behaviors. The question is to know when and how? “Here's my secret: you can only see well with your heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes. Men have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. You become forever responsible for what you captivate. ”(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)
