"I would have spent my life tormented and alone if my dreams did not come to show me the way" (Agostinho da Silva)
Sometimes we are not aware that time is limited and so it does not even help anything to spend time in fear of tomorrow. Time is all we have. And, perhaps the day will come, sooner or later everyone will discover that we have less than we judge!
"In the solitude of darkness, I could almost feel the finitude of life and its preciousness. We do not give value, but it is fragile, precarious, uncertain, able to end at any moment without warning. " (John Grogan in Marley and Me)
What's the point of people hugging the trees? What's the point of people talking to a dog? What's the point of people admiring the flowers? The answer is the same for all situations described. Meaning is communion with life. Someone said that "living and living with what surrounds us in a harmonious way is establishing the good in the world." For all this, what makes me feel much better is to look at my dog and think about what he says: Give me some time to understand what you want from me.I am irrational, but able to reciprocate your esteem and patience. "And for that very reason, when we have to make a decision , which can be a "life decision", we should ponder and reflect on it.We must have the perception that "the important thing about friendship is not knowing the friend, but knowing what is inside him or her ! ... "Every new friend we gain in life improves and enriches us as people, not by what they give us, but by how much we discover of ourselves. Being a friend is not a thing of They are gestures, words, feelings that solidify in time and never fade. The friend reveals, unveils, comforts. It's an open door in every situation. "
Difficult times happen to and with ALL of us in our lives, no matter how many tools we "use", tricks, practices or rituals we practice - no matter how many times or if we do yoga or other similar practices or how many self-help books we read or therapy sessions we attended.
We sometimes can not or do not feel able to work around the difficulties as much as we might wish and "give up" trying. In fact they are effects, called collaterals of being human. We grow, not just in ways and ways we want or "we dream to grow," and so we never escape difficult times, or that sometimes not everyone can overcome. Here again it turns out we give our dog a little more attention: "Do not be angry with me for long. And do not hold me anywhere as a punishment. You have your work, the friends, the amusements .... I only have you. Talk to me once in a while. Even if I do not understand your words, I understand your voice very well and the mere sound of it makes me happy. "
In reality, I see and feel that people nowadays focus more on wanting to avoid or escape from difficulties, which have almost as their only objective of life, as opposed to wanting to learn how to become more tolerant and of greater and better compassion towards the others. What we can and must do is work not to let hard times define who we are, what our value is, or whether we are enough or not, and we are able to overcome the difficulties that we face in our lives. Our best option is to be able to change the way we respond to difficult times and the way we think about ourselves as they arise, which really changes everything. To do so requires some practice and a lot of patience, and does not mean that our inner criticism is completely involved, but choosing to change our self-perception during some of our "struggle" is one of the deepest acts of kindness we can offer ourselves. The less shame we have to "carry on this phase of struggle," the more space we have to practice compassion as we move through it, and the more space we have to grow.
Have you ever thought that we can all forgive ourselves for not knowing what we know now? And if we still do not know it, can we forgive ourselves for it too? Difficult decision to give up dreams and people because you can not fight alone ... because life is an immense thing, which does not fit in a theory, a poem, a dogma, not even the whole despair at certain moments of the life of any person, and so it does not help us anything at all, to pass the time in fear of tomorrow !!!
"Life is what I see: a majestic and naked morning on these mountains covered with snow and sun, a pancho blanket where a lamb has just given birth to a lamb, and two children - a boy and a girl - silent , stunned, to watch the miracle still smoking. " (Miguel Torga, in "Diary (1941)")
