“Prudence is knowing how to distinguish desirable things from things that should be avoided.” (Cícero)
There is a proverb that says "stumbling also helps to walk", and so today, I believe that no one has any doubts, that we live in a special atypical situation, a terrible pandemic has hit us all in all areas of our society. In fact, in this journey of life, at one time or another we may stumble over different stones and even fall, go through many challenges and even get lost in their direction. What we cannot do is give up looking for a way out and never stop rising after the fall and raise our heads. But, we still don't really understand what we missed! As Epicurus said: “There is only one way to live life. Do not worry about things that go beyond the power of our will ”
The world has changed and so have we. We have been deceived or deceived ourselves. It wasn't a pause, it was a movie change. And in this new film of our lives, so many paradigms have escaped us that we can lose our way if we cling to the past, while the Earth continues to spin, the sun rises and life passes. As Søren Kierkegaard said): “Life can only be understood by looking back; but it can only be lived by looking ahead. ”
There are many people who change their lives after a “stay” in Intensive Care. Sometimes, being close to death makes us see life. Because everything we are and everything we know comes from one perspective. But reality is an infinite sea of perspectives in which telling the story of every second does not fit in all the books in the world. ”Those who do nothing are always willing to criticize those who do something”. (Oscar Wilde)
In these times when we experience a strange emptiness, the one we feel when we see that we cannot close the circle in which we have lived for so long, and for everyone who feels the emptiness of today we must realize that we need to review the path. We must find the value of traveling this new and different path. “Our life is a path, when we stop, we are not going forward.” (Pope Francis)
We begin to understand that life is a journey of losses, as we have never lost so much in such a short time. We lose freedom, banal routines friends and family, we even lose the right to say goodbye to those who leave. Before we regretted the time we didn't have, today we despair at the time we have. We were forced to stop, review priorities and value the basics, and in a few days we realized that much of what we used to value, was ultimately an accessory!
Above all, we live in times when we have to be creative, times when we have to think more about the collective than the individual, and times to be supportive, because we have to have the perception that we are alive may be a fluke, but living is a decision, nobody chose to come to this world, nor chose to meet these people, nor to live under these circumstances, we are here to enjoy the journey and make a difference, despite living these days upside down. "There is no golden rule that applies to everyone: every man has to discover for himself how specifically he can be saved." (Sigmund Freud)
