"Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the origin of all others." (Cicero)
"Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the origin of all others." (Cicero) "There are people out there nostalgic for the old Portuguese way of life. Nostalgic for nationalism, the border, the dictatorship, the war, the PIDE [secret police], Caxias and Tarrafal [prisons], the floods of the Tagus and Douro rivers, childhood tuberculosis, women dying in childbirth, soldiers with godmothers of war, war with political godfathers, Spanish candies, the telephone and television as a privilege, compulsory military service, 'want it on credit?', informers and whistleblowers, and, of course, that cherished relic that is a security device, and many other things. And then they say that the mobile phone is the problem with all of this? Because in this black and white film, painted gray to add some color, perhaps the time has come to stop this lie because, when the waters calm down at the bottom of the well, it is time to look in the mirror. First for some and it will be the last for others, and that, for the "For most, it's just another day."
As a friend "from Charneca like me" (Doctor Hernani Caniço) said, "aging will bring the acquisition of knowledge, the respectability of family and society, and the merit of qualifying one's life path, in which experience surpasses immediacy and passion is maintained or curbed, but maturity leads a person to face events in a more tranquil way." I don't know if this is really how people think, but we should all know that wisdom is reflected in words that inspire, teach, and transform the way we see our lives. With much wisdom, after studying a lot, thinking a lot, seeking to understand everything and everyone, a human being can, after more or less so many years of life, learn to be quiet!!!!
In these times everyone "knows everything"... and as Confucius would have said: "There are three methods to gain wisdom: first, by reflection, which is the noblest; second, by imitation, which is the easiest; and third, by experience, which is the most bitter."
