Na realidade vivemos tempos difíceis, e nós estamos plenamente de acordo, que atravessamos tempos de “estupidificação humana”(as televisões e os smartphones são considerados os grandes contributos), apesar de a actual juventude (pelo menos até aos 30 anos) ser a que maior escolaridade tem, o que não quer dizer que “culturalmente” seja a mais evoluída. Aproveite o agora, não deixe para depois... pode ficar sem tempo. Temos a percepção que assim é, mas por omissão ou esquecimento não praticamos na nossa vida do dia a dia. Quantos de nós é que diariamente, ao fim do dia dedica pelo menos 10 minutos para leitura e reflexão? Já dizia Confúcio :” Transportai um punhado de terra todos os dias e fareis uma montanha.” No entanto temos sempre tempo para ligar a televisão ou ir ao smartphone dar uma “olhadela” às diversas chamadas “redes socias”! Na verdade, todos nós tem aqueles momentos em que precisa parar e ficar e pensar na vida! Nunca podemos esquecer que a vida é feita de movimento, mesmo quando estamos parados, algo sempre está a acontecer ao nosso redor.” Podemos acreditar que tudo que a vida nos oferecerá no futuro é repetir o que fizemos ontem e hoje. The reasons for the ostracism to which former combatants were voted are rooted, in addition to others, which cannot be analyzed here, in a poor awareness of political power – of successive governments, with the exception of the last one (between 2016-2024) – and also of the post-25 April military power, who never knew or wanted to assume any responsibilities towards the families of the more than ten thousand soldiers killed on the three battle fronts (Guinea, Angola and Mozambique). In the same way that no serious and effective measures were taken to face the serious difficulties of the more than twenty thousand soldiers who returned disabled and the many more who still today suffer daily the nightmares of a war they lived over 50 years ago. Indemnizar, sim, os antigos combatentes Nos últimos dias temos assistido a um animado debate sobre o tema trazido para a praça pública pelo Presidente da República, que, disse ele “ pretende seja feita uma reparação histórica do nosso passado colonial.” É uma ideia peregrina, inoportuna e de sentido errado, já que, se alguma reparação deve ser assegurada, em primeiro lugar, é aos cerca de um milhão e meio de jovens, e todos aqueles que cá ficaram especialmente as mulheres, que o antigo regime até ao 25 de abril de 1974 obrigou, na cultura de uma mentira e de um regime antidemocrático, a rumar a África para aí deixar o melhor da sua juventude e, em muitos casos, a própria vida. As razões do ostracismo a que foram votados os antigos combatentes radicam, para além de outras, cuja análise aqui não cabe, numa má consciência do poder político – dos sucessivos governos, sem com excepção do úlimo (entre 2016-2024) – e também do poder militar pós-25 de Abril, que nunca souberam ou quiseram assumir quaisquer responsabilidades para com os familiares dos mais de dez mil soldados mortos nas três frentes de batalha (Guiné, Angola e Moçambique). Da mesma forma que nenhumas medidas sérias e eficazes tomaram para fazer face às graves dificuldades dos mais de vinte mil soldados que regressaram inválidos e aos muitos mais que ainda hoje sofrem diariamente os pesadelos de uma guerra que viveram há mais de 50 anos. Se o actual poder político, com o Presidente da República na primeira linha de combate, entende que alguma reparação deve ser feita às ex-colónias, manda a mais elementar justiça que essa reparação comece pelos então jovens soldados mandados para a guerra e hoje homens acabados, vergados pelas agruras da vida, já a dois passos da cova. Foram eles as primeiras e as principais vítimas da política colonial do regime salazarista, que viram subitamente interrompidas as suas carreiras académicas, os seus projectos profissionais ou os seus sonhos de constituição de família. A forma atabalhoada e inoportuna como foi trazido para a praça pública tão controverso assunto – a não ser que a intenção fosse, num maquiavélico rasgo político, a de criar condições para reforçar os laços de cooperação económica com os vários países que integram a CPLP, representados ao mais alto nível nas comemorações do 25 de Abril – justifica todas as pertinentes críticas de que a generalidade dos meios de comunicação não fizeram eco. Também nós estamos perplexos com as prioridades eleitas pelo Presidente da República, sobretudo na fase particularmente difícil que Portugal e a Europa atravessam. A criação de novos factos políticos a cada dia que passa não nos deixa esquecer a forma incompreensível como geriu o seu envolvimento no chamado “caso das gémeas”, nem as peripécias que envolveram a mais recente dissolução da Assembleia da República. “À medida que acumulam poder, as burocracias se tornam imunes aos próprios erros. Em vez de mudar sua história para se adequar à realidade, elas são capazes de mudar a realidade para adequá-la a suas histórias.”(Yuval Noah Harari) Cumpri serviço militar obrigatório durante três anos e meio em Santarém , Póvoa do Varzim, Alcabideche e Santa Margarida. A morning message can help us get our minds straight or find the courage to face daily challenges. In the words of Lao-Tzu, who was a Chinese philosopher who wrote the main work of Taoism, The Book of the Perfect Path (Tao Te Ching), dating from the 6th century BC, “Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom. Controlling others is strength, controlling yourself is true power.” All over the world, there is an essential principle for everyone who surfs the internet: it is a myth to assume that everything that circulates on the Internet is true. Quite the opposite. Even though lies, misrepresentation of facts, lack of impartiality, or propaganda are found repeatedly throughout history. As Plato said: “The most indispensable thing for a man is to recognize the use he must make of his own knowledge.” In fact, to reflect well on the present and possible futures, we have to start by understanding our past. As they are unaware of the depth of the past, systematic errors are made and useless, if not harmful, diagnoses are announced, not realizing that for a better future to be possible, we must carefully consider the factors that explain it - and those who don't explain- so that we can outline our future. As William Shakespeare said: “the past and the future always seem better to us; the present, always worse.” Let’s enter the week that marks 50 years since “April 25, 1974”, whoever lived it intensely as I did, is much more than a date. The day and all that followed changed the “times” of the Portuguese and my own time. Democracy is a good that only those who lived under a dictatorship know and know its exact value. As Umberto Eco said, “not all truths are for all ears.” What happened last week in Portugal, with the “so-called fiscal shock of the government of Montenegro” – in which it was quickly discovered that around 90% of the announced IRS reduction was already being implemented in the 2024 state budget – in revealing the “anxiety” of seeking “always the opinion” to the detriment of “being”, with all this, respect for the truth and, more importantly, the credibility of politicians is lost. Uma mensagem matinal pode nos ajudar a colocar a mente no lugar ou encontrar coragem para enfrentar os desafios diários. No dizer de Lao-Tsé que foi um filósofo chinês que escreveu a principal obra do Taoismo, O Livro do Caminho Perfeito (Tao Te Ching), datada do século VI a.C. “Conhecer os outros é inteligência, conhecer-se a si próprio é verdadeira sabedoria. Controlar os outros é força, controlar-se a si próprio é verdadeiro poder”. Em todo o mundo, há um princípio essencial para todos os que navegam recorrendo à internet: é um mito assumir que tudo o que circula na Internet é verdade. Bem pelo contrário. Ainda que a mentira, a deturpação dos factos, a falta de isenção, ou a propaganda, se encontrem, repetidamente, ao longo de toda a História. Como disse Platão: “A coisa mais indispensável a um homem é reconhecer o uso que deve fazer do seu próprio conhecimento.” Na verdade, para refletirmos bem sobre presente e os futuros possíveis, temos de começar por compreender o nosso passado. Como desconhecem a profundidade do passado, fazem-se erros sistemáticos e anunciam-se diagnósticos inúteis, quando não prejudiciais, não tendo a percepção de que para que um futuro melhor seja possível, temos de considerar de forma ponderada os factores que o explicam - e os que não explicam- para que possamos delinear o nosso futuro. Como disse William Shakespeare: “o passado e o futuro parecem-nos sempre melhores; o presente, sempre pior.” Vamos entrar na semana em que faz 50 anos que foi o “25 de Abril de 1974”, quem o viveu intensamente como eu vivi, é bem mais que uma data. O dia e todos os que se seguiram mudou os “tempos” dos portugueses e o meu próprio tempo. A democracia é um bem que só quem viveu numa ditadura conhece e sabe o seu exacto valor. Como disse Umberto Eco, “nem todas as verdades são para todos os ouvidos.” O que se passou na última semana em Portugal, com o “dito choque fiscal do governo de Montenegro” – em que depressa se descobriu em que cerca de 90% da anunciada redução do IRS já estava em execução no orçamento de estado de 2024 – em revelador da “ansia” de procurar “sempre o parecer” em detrimento do “ser”, com tudo isto perde-se o respeito pela verdade e, mais importante a credibilidade dos políticos. Bem sei que nem todos tem a mesma percepção, só que no fim, como sabemos, a realidade da vida vencerá sempre qualquer tipo de ilusão. “Quando a política fica demasiado dependente das perceções, corre o risco de se limitar a vender ilusões – e desligar-se da realidade.” (Rui Tavares Guedes – in revista Visão)
