“Think what they want of you; do what seems right to you.” (Pythagoras Every day is an opportunity to start over and plan a new path. But, we have to move forward and believe in ourselves. The word “impossible” was invented to be challenged. We are capable of doing much more than we imagine! As Winston Churchill said: “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist sees an opportunity in every difficulty. Courage is the first of human qualities, because it is the quality that guarantees the others. It takes courage to stand up and speak, but it also takes courage to sit down and listen.” We all have, at times in our lives, some “ghosts” that surround us and fighting these “ghosts” is not an easy task, but it is a battle worth fighting. We need to cultivate faith in the future, find meaning in the little things, nurture relationships and constantly seek new challenges and opportunities. In no way can we allow “the ghost” that surrounds us to imprison us in its icy embrace. We have and must resist, fight and persevere, because it is only by facing our fears and uncertainties that we can truly discover what it means to be alive and live. As Charles Chaplin said: “The incentive to live is to take risks, leave fear to the weak. Do not give up on your dreams. The world is in the hands of those who have the courage to dream and take the risk of living their dreams.” We have to realize that sometimes it is easy to let ourselves go enveloped by its aura of hopelessness and resignation, with the monotony of everyday life, with the feeling of emptiness that sets in, but it is in these moments that resistance is essential, as giving in to the “ghosts” is renouncing one’s life.
