Is it because they don't know or because they don't want to know?

Is it because they don't know or because they don't want to know? As someone said “the beauty of life is that we build it with our options and decisions”. In fact, I think the most beautiful way to look at life is to live it as if it were a book we are writing and when we reach the end of life, we will want to read that book. If we think like this, we'll all want to have beautiful stories that we're proud of. But we can never forget the words attributed to St. Augustine: “Let us be humble to avoid pride, but we must be able to fly high to reach wisdom. “ In the times we live in, in which half truths are presented as absolute truths, let us be clear in saying that moral clarity does not blind us, like all of us, sometimes we choose to close our eyes to certain things. Arriving here I feel that I have friends in all political and philosophical quarters. But, due to training and some political experience, which age already gives me, I have, like each of you, my limits: here there is no room for anti-democrats, populist fascists, intolerant of those who are different, racists, xenophobes , people who discriminate against others based on race, religious choice, sexual orientation or philosophical option. I believe in good people being on the left. from the center or from the right, whether “this or that”. But I despise with great intensity those who do not give others the right to be as they are and to think freely. I believe in the humanity and individuality of each one, but I don't believe in or live with scoundrels. Those in my space have no place. Perhaps it is time to remember the phrase, or the poem, it is what remains of a set of separate and obscure statements by Martin Niemöller (1892-1984), a German Lutheran pastor who was interned by the Nazis in concentration camps~ “First they took the communists, I kept silent, because I wasn't a communist. When they took the social democrats, I kept silent, because I wasn't a social democrat. They took the Jews away, I didn't protest, because I wasn't a Jew. When they took me away, there was no one to protest". Our doubt is if we don't know or if we don't want to know about what is going on around us?
