"The reason we can't find rest is because we look for where it is not." (Father António Vieira)

"The reason we can't find rest is because we look for where it is not." (Father António Vieira)

We must realize that we are now installed in this “new normal” and that it is in function of this reality that we have to live our life. Many of us have spent all these months with the precautions that are and were determined by the rules of public health, (such as the use of a mask, physical distance, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette) but we must not, nor can we fail to look at the forest as a whole and not just as a tree, because many of us do not miss many cases of friends and even acquaintances, who did not exempt themselves, at “dinner parties”, either during the Christmas season or on New Year's Eve , with many people beyond what was advisable, and unbelievable as it may seem, even in these times now it happens. How is all this possible to be happening, with all the information more than enough to know the risks involved? It will make no sense that what is decided by others, by those who act according to the individualistic principle that only evils happen to others, that after all, sooner or later they end up not only coming to knock on the door, but reaching other people. people who were compliant !? Perhaps it is good to remember what Clarice Lispector said: "Life is short, but the emotions that we can leave last an eternity." This is a difficult time for everyone, but it is not the time to let your guard down. The time has come to be more supportive in the exercise of citizenship, if we do not realize and practice this, we will not be up to the challenge in our lives, nor set an example for our children, or our grandchildren, for a supportive and confident country that we have future. We are not just a mere spectator of our life, our attitudes are responsible for making our life wonderful and extraordinary. As Plato said. "Do not wait for a crisis to find out what is important in your life." (Plato) Whoever lives in this bubble of amnesia, selfishness and indifference to the common good, pretends not to know that, just at the weekend, thousands were infected due to not complying with health rules. Between a coffee and another, as if it were cheese, they erase from their memory the responsibility that they do not want to assume their real responsibility. In these times or society perceives (and changes behaviors), it is unacceptable that at the same time, in a world to the contrary, there are those who make exceptions the most important part of the rules to follow. “To close is to close, to confine is to confine, it is not to confine more or less, it is not to pretend to confine.” (Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Republic). We have no doubt that there is an urgent need in our country to impose more shackles to obey the rules of flattening the deaths, so that we must evaluate the exceptional situations foreseen much more rigorously and reduce them “because people are having very creative interpretations ”. If in doubt, do not invent: STAY AT HOME. “We are putting all the means that exist in the country to work, but there is a limit and we are very close to the limit. And the Portuguese need to know that. ”(Marta Temido, Minister of Health) “To see is to be seen. By whom? For everything. As if things have a sunflower in the middle. Even the most opaque. Without that, we wouldn't see anything. We are not the Sun. Just a look where, by meditating on things, everything becomes solar. Until the night. ” (Eduardo Lourenço, in Da Pintura)
