“Contamos histórias a nós mesmos para poder viver.”(Joan Didion) Quase sem darmos por isso a nossa vida transforma-se rapidamente. A vida muda num instante. Sentamo-nos para almoçar, e aquela vida que conhecíamos acaba de repente. Todos nós temos de admitir que andamos sempre à procura de soluções, que não encontramos. Talvez até não quiséssemos terminar o ano!!! Até porque sabemos que, à medida que os dias vão passando, Março já aí está e torna-se Abril e depois chega o verão, e lá estamos novamente no fim do ano…. e a vida desaparece como um fio!!! “Nós sabemos por que tentamos manter os mortos vivos: fazemos isso para mantê-los connosco. Também sabemos que, se quisermos viver, chega um ponto em que devemos abandonar os mortos, deixá-los ir, mantê-los mortos.”(Joan Didion) Isto tudo vêm a propósito de hoje só querer (tentar), chamar a atenção para a falta de uma “voz pública”, que, no meu entender, se tem feito sentir, a defender, em nome dos mais velhos, a necessidade (e simples decência) de serem eles a serem vacinados primeiro, se o primeiro objectivo é, como está assente, que a prioridade é “salvar vidas” e não a chamada “resiliência do Estado”. Bem sei que a decência não consta dos índices de desenvolvimento de um País. É até difícil de medir e, muito mais nestes tempos em que nos movemos em terrenos de incertezas humanas. Mas, mais pobre ou mais rico, um País mais decente e mais solidário é certamente um País melhor. Tal como disse Bill Gates a “inteligência é a capacidade de absorver informação em tempo real. De fazer perguntas que façam sentido. É ter boa memória. É traçar pontes entre assuntos que não parecem estar relacionados e inovar ao fazer essas conexões.” Aqui chegados tenho de sublinhar que todos os dias, às várias horas do dia, os “ denominados porta-vozes” das mais variadas classes e ordens profissionais reivindicam o seu direito à primazia no acesso à vacina, independentemente de qualquer critério que diga respeito ao risco de vida. Esses grupos têm ordens, sindicatos e associações para falarem por eles. Os mais velhos não têm, embora sofram de uma forma específica de discriminação que até tem uma designação criada pelo psiquiatra americano Robert Butler em 1969 – “ageism”- que significa discriminação contra os idosos. A realidade assente e fundamentada cientificamente é que e as pessoas idosas, mais frágeis e vulneráveis devem ser vacinadas primeiro, e então o desconfinamento pode ser mais rápido e mais seguro. “Pessoas que são boas em arranjar desculpas raramente são boas em qualquer outra coisa.
