“Life is wonderful if you are not afraid of it” (Charles Chaplin)

“Life is wonderful if you are not afraid of it” (Charles Chaplin) To achieve our goals of living life, we cannot be afraid to fight, because our life is a daily struggle, and perhaps that is why there is a popular saying that, “never let the sorrows of the past and the uncertainties of the future spoil the joys of the present.” Scientist-researchers have been studying the impact of the so-called “uncertainty principle” for years - and trying to define what uncertainty really is, given not only the existence that uncertainty implies in human conduct, but also how it affects decision-making ! I myself am for uncertainty as Keynes defined it - "who considered uncertainty as an absence of certain numerical probabilities". That will be like someone who says - we are not sure of anything, we are sure that the future can be uncertain, always having uncertainties about our doubts. As Paulo Coelho said, “the universe always helps us to fight for our dreams. Because they are our dreams, and only we know how much it costs us to dream them ... ”In fact, on several occasions, this idea has occurred to me in these pandemic times, where uncertainty has settled in our lives, increasing our our anxiety levels, although in the area of psychology some defenders, perhaps, for the sake of survival, are led to believe that “they can be more certain about reality, than those that are assumed, about the existing reality”, which in a way, it makes it difficult to manage anxiety in these times when there is much more that is not known than what is known. “The awareness of complexity makes us understand that we will never be able to escape from uncertainty and that we will never be able to have total knowledge - totality is the non-truth.” (Edgar Morin) Now it is precisely for scientists and researchers that uncertainty is precisely what starting point - which is why they have been, above all, the face of serenity in these turbulent times. While politicians make decisions pressured by public opinion, scientists call for calm and patience and the memory that nothing is "discovered", no problem is solved without first going through a "period of darkness". “The art of listening is like a light that dispels the darkness of ignorance. Everything we do has an effect, it has an impact. Cultivating positive mental states like generosity and compassion definitely leads to better mental health and happiness. ”(Dalai Lama) Perhaps that is why we need to face the coming times with great courage, which still promise us many doubts and uncertainties along the way, even find the solution even if everything seems very dark around us. We borrow words from Barack Obama, even if used in another context - remember that before us, many have already come, that out of nowhere, have found a solution - and we must find encouragement and hope that this will happen again !. "We choose hope over fear. We see the future not as something out of control, but as something that we can shape for the better through a combined and collective effort." Barack Obama - UN General Assembly in 2013
